Here’s a curiosity: it’s a pure Maccabeu that my father-in-law was already making in 1969.
The last one was made in 1995, and we then looked for other blends…
But there are still bottles of older vintages ! including this 1985:
The Maccabeu can be recognised by its round, honeyed, fat character, its fennel and broom aromas, and an incredible freshness in the mouth which, blindly, surprises many palates!
As for the 1986 vintage, it is close to the “Rancio” of Roussillon and yet is not aged in an oxidative environment. The Jura people will find a yellow wine accent in it…
As for the 1980…., its freshness and aniseed notes are incredible!
